I was raised in rural Indiana with three older sisters and parents who are still married. My parents and two of my sisters are pentecostal Christians. I was raised pentecostal but I do not subscribe to those beliefs any longer.
As a kid, every Sunday morning was spent at church, the afternoon was spent falling in love with my best male friend and the evening was spent in church again – repenting for loving my friend.
I always knew I was gay. It wasn’t until I was 13-years-old I said it aloud. I confessed to my pastor that I was gay. That is when the ex-gay counseling started and it continued until I was 18-years-old.
While hosting an internationally syndicated Christian TV show, I became the first Christian entertainer to come out publicly. I was honored to be named one of Instinct Magazine’s Leading Men of 2008. I’ve had the privilege of being a keynote speaker at the 2009 Gay Christian Conference and I was able to co-headline a national speaking tour with Christian singer Ray Boltz in 2010.
I have experienced and learned a lot since 2008. The purpose of this blog is to share what I have learned and experienced. I hope you will afford me the privilege of sharing with you.
